~ I have a love for the beauty in nature – everything from rocks, shells, flowers, sea glass/pottery, feathers and landscapes. These little wonders of nature inspire me to challenge myself. ~

Rustic Poppies - Watercolor and ink

Watercolor

I love the transparency that watercolors offer that cannot be achieved through other media. I love its soft and transparent images, and it is exciting to challenge myself to develop ways of creating depth and texture in my work.

Purple Bloom - Watercolor blue and purple washes

Watercolor and Gelli plated feathers with a piece of Turquoise added.

Sea Glass, Pottery and Turquoise

Introducing and sharing my life long collection of sea-glass from all over the world – places such as Hong Kong, Brazil, Maine, California, Florida, Bahamas and Bali into my watercolors has been a fun exploration.  Looking at the shapes and colors in context to composition of a piece is challenging, yet, exciting!

I had recently lived in the desert, and had the opportunity to collect, tumble and utilize raw turquoise into my paintings. I was also introduced to Fordite - layers of paint from the Ford Plant that had been chipped away and then tumbled, creating unique shapes and colors. I hope you will enjoy these pieces as much as I have.

Multi Media Pieces

I find incorporating textures within my artwork such as buttons, fabric, Fordite, various papers and collage techniques create delightful surprises. Using Absorbent Ground, a primer to create my watercolors on rocks (also wood, tile, etc.), along with the unique shapes and color of rocks has been inspiring.
