~ I have a love for the beauty in nature – everything from rocks, shells, flowers, sea glass/pottery, feathers and landscapes. These little wonders of nature inspire me to challenge myself and share the beauty with others. ~

Watercolor

I love the transparency that watercolors offer that cannot be achieved through other media. It is all about the application of multiple layers. Watercolor is known for its soft and transparent images, so it is exciting to challenge myself to develop ways of creating depth and texture in my work.

Sea Glass, Pottery and Turquoise

Introducing and sharing my life long collection of sea-glass from all over the world – places such as Hong Kong, Brazil, Maine, California, Florida, Bali, and Cuba into my watercolors has been a fun exploration.  Looking at the shapes and colors in context to composition of a piece is challenging, yet, exciting!  Since I have retired recently to live in the desert, I have had the opportunity to collect, tumble and utilize raw turquoise into my paintings as support our local rock boutiques which offer Variaquoise and finer Turquoise pieces. I was also introduced to Fordite - layers of paint from the Ford Plant that had been chipped away and then tumbled, creating unique shapes and colors. I hope you will enjoy these pieces as much as I have.

Multi Media Pieces

I find incorporating textures within my artwork such as buttons, fabric, Fordite, various papers and collage techniques create delightful surprises. Using Absorbent Ground, a primer to create my watercolors on rocks (also wood, tile, etc.), along with the unique shapes and color of rocks has been inspiring.
